So here is another review of a Korean brand Tony Moly. We know snails are part of french cuisines but what about applying their slime topically? I am sure most people find it gross including myself. In case if you are wondering, no snails are harmed in the process of collecting their secretions. From my understanding, all these snails are just chilling in a farm and being fed well. The farmers collect their secretions overtime for skincare products.
Snail Secretion Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Water, Centella Asiatica Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Beta-Glucan, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Ceteareth-6 Olivate, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Tromethamine, Carbomer, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Glycereth-26, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin
In a nutshell, snail slime soothes and repairs. I got this set again in Seoul. It has 3 items – toner, essence and emulsion. You apply them in the order listed. According to Tony Moly, these golden snails are fed on organic golden tea. Their secretions are then fermented with the golden tea to further decompose the particles so that the skin can absorb the nutrients better. This line claims to strengthen the skin barrier, whiten, firm, and improve moisture. The toner is not the runny watery type. It is more of a mucous texture that preps your skin for other products after. The essence is a clear sticky gel that absorbs onto your skin to create a protective barrier. The emulsion is a light cream to help seal everything in.
Personally I find this line is more suitable for dry and mature skin as it can get quite heavy if you use all three items at once especially in warmer weather. With that being said, young people can still benefit if you just use the toner and essence only if using all three is a bit much. I used the entire set in the cold harsh winter months here. Although I have dry skin, I still think it can get quite heavy at times so I use them sparingly. After finishing the set, I find it does help with soothing and fading acne marks. It moisturizes for sure and firms as well. So have you guys tried any snail products? If not, would you want to try one?
